Save at the Pump with Volkswagen

If you're ready to reduce your carbon footprint or find ways to save more money this year, fuel consumption is one of the best places to start. Volkswagen has engineered the models in its lineup to offer outstanding fuel-saving features. From hybrid powertrains to aerodynamic designs, Volkswagen keeps the environment—and your wallet—in mind.

Variable Valve Timing

Volkswagen’s variable valve timing technology is used in many engine options to increase performance as well as fuel economy and efficiency. It works by altering the timing of the valves by shifting the phase angle of the camshaft. If that sounds like a bunch of jargon you don’t really care about, just know that VVT equals better efficiency. This technology is used throughout the Volkswagen lineup on most models.

Turbo Powertrains

Much like variable valve timing can improve efficiency, so can turbochargers. The application of turbochargers may have started with the desire for faster vehicles, but it has an extra benefit. By using a turbocharger, Volkswagen can use a smaller engine with less horsepower without creating a vehicle that feels sluggish. Small turbos provide the power you need to merge onto highways or pass another car but don’t drink fuel when you’re just driving normally. A great example is the Golf GTI equipped with a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine. With 241 horsepower, you might expect this car to be expensive at the pump but the hot hatch still achieves 34 mpg on the highway.*

Electric Performance

Volkswagen has always been focused on the world as a community, so it isn't a surprise that the German automaker took the time to craft one of the most popular new electric vehicles on the road. The ID.4 is a sporty crossover with a 280-mile range. The tech-packed, attainably-priced vehicle has been spotted in cities and suburbs alike. If you want something more unique, just wait until you see the upcoming ID. Buzz, inspired by the iconic 1970s Volkswagen bus.
