Fully electric and hybrid vehicles have been on the rise recently, with nearly every major automaker announcing upcoming models powered by electric powertrains. Volkswagen is no different, with more electric models on the horizon. The prospect of this luxury brand crafting versatile, capable, and lavish electric models for the North American market has the Heritage Volkswagen Catonsville & Parkville team excited for what's ahead—the Volkswagen ID.4.
An Electric Powerhouse
The Volkswagen ID.4 is available with two powertrain options. The first powertrain is a 201-horsepower single electric motor system that delivers a 0 to 60 time of 6.2 seconds and a range of up to 250 miles. This standard powertrain also comes in a rear-wheel drive configuration which gives lots of torque to the rear wheels thanks to the powerful electric motor.
For those who want more performance as well as excellent off-road capability, there is the available all-wheel-drive model that delivers up to 302 horsepower from an electric motor. This more powerful version of the 2022 Volkswagen ID.4 can go from 0 to 60 miles per hour in 5.8 seconds. With the all-wheel-drive capability, you will be able to expertly handle many off-road driving conditions.
Striking Design
Volkswagen's first all-electric SUV is stunning inside and out. Outside, the ID.4 is clearly a Volkswagen, with design cues from the rest of the Volkswagen SUV lineup, especially the Tiguan and Atlas Cross Sport. However, the SUV does still stand out, with a stunning front facia and athletic silhouette. The interior is crafted with the driver and passengers in mind. Premium materials are found throughout the cabin, with soft-touch trim elevating the experience.
What's Next?
While we might not be seeing the ID.Buzz in North America, it's safe to assume that there's more coming from the brand in the way of EV models. Volkswagen recently released the ID.AERO sedan concept, signaling that there may be an all-electric car on the horizon.
Can’t wait for the latest EV model to come out? That’s ok! There are so many great hybrid Volkswagen models that are incredibly efficient and will last for years to come.
