New for 2020
This year, Volkswagen has simplified the Golf lineup to now offer this iconic hatchback in one, well-equipped trim. The 2020 Golf TSI offers unbeatable value with new technology features like the latest rendition of Car-Net® telematics and standard Wi-Fi capability with a subscription. This model is packed with tons of features and it can hardly be called a base model.
For the last four decades, the Volkswagen Golf has helped set the template for the modern compact car. Today, the 2020 Golf continues to set the standard for small car refinement, design, and utility. There’s a reason why this car is the automaker's best-selling model worldwide.
The Perfect Ride for…
Drivers looking for a sporty car that doesn’t cut any corners on performance or utility. The iconic hatchback design of the Golf lends itself to weekend getaways as much as it does cruising through the city. While its silhouette is hip and sporty, what’s made the Golf a longtime favorite is its zippy performance. Drivers will revel in the smooth powertrain powered by a turbocharged engine. Wherever your life takes you, you can count on the Golf to get you there in speed and style.
Drive & Handling
The 2020 Volkswagen Golf comes standard with a 1.8-liter I-4 that makes 147 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque. As always, you’ll have the choice of a six-speed manual transmission or an eight-speed automatic transmission with Tiptronic® and Sport mode. EPA estimates stand at 29 city/37 highway, when equipped with a six-speed manual transmission.*
Thanks to its light curb weight and turbocharged engine, the 2020 Golf is agile, handling both city streets and winding roads with ease. Electronic stability control and anti-slip regulation create a driving experience that instills confidence, as well as excitement.
Key Features
Safety
Volkswagen is the people's car, which means the brand has put safety at the forefront of its features. The 2020 Golf offers an array of airbags and active safety features like electronic stability control, anti-slip regulation, and engine brake assist. You’ll also find a rearview camera, as well as Volkswagens Intelligent Crash Response System®. This system shuts off the fuel pump to reduce fires, unlocks the doors for a quick exit of the vehicle, and turns on the hazard lights so drivers around you are immediately alerted to the collision. The Automatic Post-Collision Braking System helps reduce the chances of additional damage or collisions after the initial impact by bringing the Golf to a safe stop after an accident.
VW Car-Net®
With VW Car-Net® App-Connect, you can link your compatible smartphone and access select apps on the touchscreen display of your Golf. Streaming your music, navigation, and messaging can be controlled from the touchscreen, and Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ both come standard on both trims. Using the Car-Net Remote Access you can start and stop the engine, lock or unlock the doors, honk the horn, flash the lights, and see statistics like fuel level, mileage, and more. When equipped with navigation, Car-Net will allow you to send points of interest to your car and link to smart home devices for vehicle information.
Alternative Options
Those on the lookout for something a little bigger should consider the Volkswagen Tiguan, which shares its MQB bones with the Golf. A stylish, capable crossover that sports an upscale design that is equal parts sophisticated and sporty, the Tiguan delivers on all fronts. Looking for something a little more refined and family-friendly? Consider the Passat. Designed to be just as approachable and stylish as the original, the Passat boasts great fuel economy like the Golf, while resembling a more family-friendly midsize sedan. Like the Golf, it comes packed with technology and safety features designed to make any road trip a breeze. Contact Heritage Volkswagen Catonsville & Parkville today to learn more.
